UBX and Bixie join hands to empower Pinays with financial tools and knowledge

UBX, a leading open finance platform in the Philippines, and Bixie, an AI-powered finance platform for women that encourages savings and wealth generation through knowledge, network, and tools, have joined hands to empower Filipino women with financial knowledge, network, tools, products, and services to help them become financially independent.

Under this partnership, Bixie will leverage the open finance platform of UBX to seamlessly disburse aid funds directly to Filipina beneficiaries through i2i’s unique last-mile disbursement network.

i2i, the banking-as-a-service venture of UBX, has a network of over 3,000 banking agents that provide basic banking solutions and services in unserved and underserved areas in the Philippines.

Bixie will be used in the following ways:

  • Insurance for women – Bixie has started to provide Filipino women with free personal accident with telemedicine insurance policies to women through Assured, UBX’s embedded insurance platform.
  • Financial literacy – Through its AI-enabled platform to support financial literacy, Bixie helps women know and grow their worth. Bixie promotes financial literacy among women by requiring them to watch a video that educates them on how to properly allot and spend their money. In receiving aid funds, beneficiaries are directed first to financial literacy material to educate them on how to properly allot and spend the cash they are receiving.
  • Digital ledger/financial goal tracker – Bixie provides women with insights on their spending. It also features a digital community center that allows members to share their financial goals and milestones.
  • Hosting of live events – On its social media platforms, Bixie will host forums tackling topics such as entrepreneurship, insurance, savings, and investment tools, and even including digital assets such as NFTs and cryptocurrencies.

Bixie’s partners include various aid and humanitarian groups that channel their assistance to women from developing countries through Bixie’s platform. These include the United Nations, Oxfam, Action Against Hunger, Caritas, USAID, and UNDP, among others.

“Women are the largest market gap in finance, our exclusion is worth at least $3 trillion dollars. Bixie is here to close that gap,” Bixie CEO Rosalia Gitau said. “I see a future where women can turn our network into our net worth– and Web3 technology enables that. At Bixie, we are building the world’s first female aggregator in Web3, turning our social capital into real capital.”

This is just the initial phase of the membership, according to UBX Managing Director Cyrus Cruz. Their aim is to “introduce more tools and services in Bixie’s platform, including micro-investments and other wealth-generation programs.”
