Globe recreates Christmas 2020 with a fully digital Wonderful World of Globe (WWG)

After all the disasters of 2020, many are saying it is very hard to feel the Christmas spirit of 2020. Christmas would have been a time to come together as a family and find solace among each other after everything that has happened. But even that has been made impossible as the pandemic still hovers over us, forcing us to stay in our homes and observing social distancing.

All is not lost.

Globe CEO, Ernest Cu, announced at a recent blogger event that as most of its subscribers turned to digital means during the lockdown, it likewise recreated itself to offer more for its subscribers on the digital space for the holidays and the year to come.

Surf4All

Answered prayer for so many of us! Surf4All is a first-of-its-kind, fully convergent data offer that spans Globe brands. You get just one shareable GB allocation that can be seamlessly used by up to 4 users or devices. You can share data with Globe Prepaid, Globe Postpaid, Globe Platinum, Globe At Home Prepaid WiFi, and even TM.

This is such a great development. I can already imagine that in our family, we can all share one Surf4All instead of individually registering to different data promos that we cannot totally consume.

There are currently two Surf4All promos, both valid for 7 days.

  1. Surf4ALL99, which gives you 9GB of shareable data, and
  2. Surf4ALL249, with 20GB shared access (15GB + 5GB limited-time bonus data)

PureGo

PureGo is the result of a partnership between 917Ventures, Globe’s corporate incubator, and PureGold. PureGo will be an online grocery shopping platform that delivers groceries at one’s doorstep with a next-day delivery promise, using multiple payment options, including GCash.

Gaming and Entertainment Recreated

With many subscribers confined to home, there has been a steep climb in gaming and entertainment hours as people use their smartphones more and more to play games, watch movies, and consume video.

Globe partnered with Riot for special data offers for League of Legends: Wild Rift the mobile version of the
highly-popular League of Legends.

As the first Southeast Asian telco member of the Niantic Planet-Scale AR Alliance, Globe will be bringing more immersive gaming experiences, powered by Niantic’s advanced AR real-world platform that will push the boundaries of what can be experienced in a Niantic game with 5G technology.

Globe partnered with YouTube VR to enable users to watch and explore VR content in-app through the affordable yet effective Globe VR cardboard. Users’ online entertainment experience and online learning from home will definitely be expanded.

A new partnership with HBO GO lets Globe offer award-winning entertainment. Globe customers can watch thousands of hours of shows and movies any time anywhere using their connected device. They can stream or download HBO Originals, HBO Asia Originals, Korean and Chinese dramas, Hollywood blockbusters, content for kids and family, and more. Some examples are Sam Mendes’ war film 1917, Spider-Man: Far From Home starring Tom Holland, Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy, and Cartoon Network’s We Bare Bears: The Movie.

Globe also joined hands with Kumu, a Pinoy-centered livestreaming platform, which is home of local and global user-generated Pinoy lifestyle content, and digital content partners like GKNB (Game Ka Na Ba?), a gamified FYE (For Your Entertainment). Kumu will offer up celebrity streams, talk shows, variety content, and MYXPH for music. Kumu will also be adding game streaming channels into their mix as part of their offerings on the platform.

Gift-Giving Recreated

The digital space has seen Filipinos help even from their homes during the lockdown. Many platforms launched fundraising efforts each time a disaster struck. These were really helpful since people felt helpless being stuck at home but wanted to help those in need.

Globe is finding ways for Filipinos to continue the spirit of gift-giving during Christmas.

To help vulnerable communities during the pandemic, Globe Platinum has partnered with World Vision to create the #ForFutureHeroes program. The program consists of virtual experiences, in collaboration with BGC Arts
Center, Electric Studio, and others, that allow Globe Platinum customers to pursue their passions at home while making an impact on others. Through a matching program, Globe Platinum customers who participate in the #ForFutureHeroes’ activities will be able to provide World Vision school kits, filled with DepEd-approved learning modules and supplies, to children of Baseco Compound, Manila so they could continue their education.

Globe Platinum customers have already been delighting frontliners all these months, through the Thank-A-Hero program. Apart from sending them treats from Auntie Anne’s, Coco, The Cookie Bar, and JCo Donuts, Globe Platinum is also preparing a Noche Buena feast for them to thank those who will be working on Christmas Eve.

To support the demand of educators for a fast, reliable, and affordable internet connection, Globe At Home initiated WiFi2Teach which supports the DepEd’s Distance Learning program through the donation of Globe Prepaid WiFi modems. Modems had previously been donated to the DepEd to equip selected public school teachers. The program continues
now by raising funds to provide free WiFi modems for public school students. In partnership with Ayala Foundation, for every Globe At Home Prepaid Wifi sold, PhP 100 will be donated to help fund internet connectivity of selected public school students at home.

The Globe myBusiness’ Gift Local campaign encourages everyone to patronize local products for their Christmas gift-giving to give small and medium enterprises a much-needed boost.

Globe’s GCash platform can be used in many ways this Christmas. GCash Send Aguinaldo lets users send digital gift envelopes as aguinaldos to inaanaks and pamangkins; the GInsure service allows you to give the gift of insurance from within the GCash app;  and in the same spirit of giving and bayanihan, you may also donate to typhoon victims using GCash and your Globe Rewards points.

GLife, the newest GCash app feature, provides more gift and handaan options across different brands and e-commerce platforms, like Lazada, Puregold, DataBlitz, Purego, Boozy, Goldilocks, Goama Games, and more.

It is indeed a ‘Merry GCash!’ this Christmas, as GCash is also giving up to PhP 30 million worth of prizes just by using the app. Get gifts just by buying load or using GCredit to pay when you shop on your favorite online platforms. You will also get a chance to win a gift of your choice in the grand raffle.

Local Traditions Recreated

One thing many Filipinos will miss going to this Christmas is the annual Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF). Many Filipinos look forward to just relaxing and bringing the family to watch a select line-up of films from different genres. But wait, will they really miss it?

No, they won’t!!! This year, Globe’s GMovies, an online cinema ticketing platform, has partnered with the MMFF and Upstream, a new transactional video-on-demand platform, to recreate the MMFF tradition and bring this year’s nominated films online, wherever you are. Tickets will be available on GMovies for streaming on Upstream from your device.

Let me just say…..Christmas will be different, for sure, this 2020, with the pandemic still around and so many of us still stuck at home or working from home. But it won’t be depressing. Not when Globe is making sure that we will still continue to have a Wonderful World with all these options.
