SMEs can expand their online shopping reach through Globe myBusiness and Lazada Philippines

We know that in the Philippines, over 90% of all businesses are micro-, small- and medium enterprises (SMEs). That also means that a great number of these businesses, with their limited operating capital, do not always have the capacity to reach potential buyers in the online shopping sphere. Globe Telecom, through its SME arm, Globe myBusiness, recently partnered with leading online shopping proponent Lazada Philippines, to bring online shoppers closer to the SMEs.

Globe myBusiness has, for some time now, provided entrepreneurs with e-Commerce solutions to bring SMEs into the digital marketplace, close to their online markets. Now, with the Lazada partnership, entrepreneurs can place premium placement ads on the Lazada homepage to promote their products and attract more buyers. In addition, they have a chance to be featured in the Globe myBusiness Marketplace found also in the Lazada website. How is this done? Globe myBusiness SME customers subscriptions come with waived sales commission capped at PhP 5,000/month.

Raymond Alimurung, Chief Business Officer for Lazada Philippines believes that their marketplace service tools, training and digital solutions will revolutionize the way these SMEs do business. Derrick Heng, Senior Advisor for Globe myBusiness, meanwhile said that Globe believes in strength through partnerships, a reason for partnering with Lazada. With online stores, SMEs can reach even more potential customers and profits are no longer limited by the number of visitors going to brick-and-mortar stores.

To showcase the partnership, a DigiMall was set up inside the Bonifacio High Street Central Square featuring a 21st century reimagination of a digital shopping mall. Local quality products from select Lazada merchants were displayed through an interactive setup where products each had its own QR code. We were actually able to experience convenient onlinw shopping the way the public could experience it with just their smartphone.

All that a potential buyer has to do is:

1. Download the Lazada app from the App Store or Google Play.

2. Once the buyer chooses an item to buy, all he/she has to do is use the Lazada app to scan the QR code of the item and the purchase value would be deducted from one’s Lazada Wallet or Digital Voucher/Gift Card.

Aside from the convenience of a DigiMall, Globe myBusiness Academy and Lazada also joined hands to provide a series of workshops and business consultations called “AdvantEDGE”. AdvantEDGE is a free learning session for all online sellers. Regardless of their type of business, these sellers were given the opportunity to exchange their own knowledge and experiences, learn from each others’ mistakes, and learn how to correct these mistakes. This session also teaches sellers how to make their business management easier through the power of business solution products provided by Globe myBusiness.

It is an exciting time for SMEs as they now have still another way to expand their reach. The trend is showing that more and more people are moving to online shopping and the SMEs cannot afford to miss out on this opportunity. With this platform being provided by both Globe myBusiness and Lazada, SMEs can grow their businesses even faster and wider.
