5 features of the LG G7 ThinQ premium flagship phone that showcase awesome audio and visual technologies

The latest premium flagship phone from LG has just launched – the LG G7 ThinQ.

Clocking in with a 6.1″ display screen, 4G RAM, storage up to 64GB ROM, 16MP rear camera and 8MP front camera, the G7 ThinQ is a giant beauty to hold in one’s palm. That’s not what sets it apart from most other smartphones in the market today though. The G7 ThinQ has some features that have not yet been seen on other smartphones in its league. Here are my top 5 awesome features:

#1: Boombox Speaker

One feature that is basically ignored in most smartphones is the audio speakers. For many years, not much has improved in terms of the quality of a phone’s sound. I guess that’s why most of us have bluetooth speakers — to amplify the sounds coming from our phone speakers. The G7 ThinQ is doing something new in this area. It is using the inner back space of the phone as a resonance chamber to deliver that powerful bass and premium audio experience without the need for bluetooth speakers. (Note: For best results, the phone has to be placed on a flat surface)

The G7 ThinQ’s nearest competitor clocks audio at 34db (decibels). This phone comes in at 40db!

I had the chance to listen to the difference. First, I listened to classical music using just the phone’s speakers. Normal sound. But when the Boombox Speaker was activated, the entire back of the phone began to vibrate, contributing to the amplified bass. The difference was apparent. In a quiet room, the boom effect of the G7 ThinQ eliminates the need for bluetooth speakers. It would also work well inside cars, giving a better-than-usual sound experience compared to using phone speakers alone. It also means you need not bring along extra speakers. Why haven’t other smartphone brands thought of this?

 #2: AI Camera

Here’s a first again for a smartphone. Capture that perfect shot! The G7 ThinQ’s AI Camera recognizes up to 19 different modes of subjects (person, flower, food, low light, landscape, etc), recommends the angle and right filter to use (it gives you up to 4 filters per mode).

I pointed the phone to a picture of a flower and the AI cam detected the flower mode and presented 4 filters to choose from

#3: Super Wide Angle Camera

Fit the barkada in the screen! The G7 ThinQ’s Super Wide Angle Camera recognizes when there are many subjects and adjusts the wide-angle lens to allow you to accommodate more friends or more view into your scenic shots.

This is how it would look to do a selfie with several people

Now this is how the G7 ThinQ adjusts to accommodate more people into the frame

#4: Super Far Field Voice Recognition

Familiar with ‘Okay, Google’ to activate your AI assistant? Well, you can be anywhere in a room, possibly even some distance from your phone. The Super Far Field Voice Recognition allows your G7 ThinQ phone to hear and respond to your commands from as far as 5 meters and even in a noisy environment. This is so convenient especially when you are moving around a room and don’t want to be carrying the phone around with you in case you would need to issue a command.

#5: Google Assistant and Google Lens

Want to skip “Okay Google” altogether? You can launch Google Assistant with just one click – simply press and hold a hotkey button on the side of the phone. To access Google Lens, double click the same key and point at the object of interest so Google can do a visual search and bring up more information for you about the object you pointed to.

The LG G7 ThinQ will retail at PhP 42,990. It will come in 2 colors: Moroccan Blue and Aurora Black.
