(Update: I’ve added photos from the bloggers’ preview of the Star Wars galactic weekend for fans and families, Dec. 12-13, 2015. Scroll down to the section on galactic celebrations.)
Global anticipation and excitement is building up as all Star Wars fan-atics await the global premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens which will screen worldwide on December 17, 2015 (Philippine time).
My whole family is already excited! Hubby and some of my kids have been watching the Star Wars marathon on cable TV these past weeks so they can really connect the dots daw. This excitement is contagious!
Globe Telecom has been at the forefront of Star Wars pre-screening celebrations. Recently, I joined some bloggers and social media influencers at the Luxe Residences for a thanksgiving get-together. The Globe team and some bloggers came all dressed up in different Star Wars-inspired costumes, adding to the Star Wars ‘feel’ all night.

We had so much fun! It was Trivia Night and all questions were about Star Wars (of course!). I have to confess that while I love Star Wars, names and places always escape me so all the Star Wars items went to the younger bloggers who knew their Star Wars stuff, haha!
All throughout the night, all of us had no download and upload problems because for the first time, we got to experience just how fast Globe Platinum Broadband speeds were. Need proof? Here’s a screenshot from my friend Noemi’s speed test (she actually got faster speed results later in the night). Globe Platinum Broadband’s speeds apparently go up to 1 Gbps. The first family, living in Acropolis, to have 1 Gbps speed was introduced in an earlier Globe event.

The Bonifacio High Street Central amphitheater will be transformed into a huge Star Wars playground. There will be game booths, life-sized displays, and Star Wars-themed fashion and retail items, interactive activities, photo walls. Bring the whole family because they will surely have loads of fun the whole day.
Here are some pics from our bloggers’ night at the amphitheater:

Something the kids will love at the amphitheater is the Galactic Challenge, a specially designed obstacle course where one’s skill, insight and courage will be tested. Choose between the Light Side or the Dark Side. Every hour, Globe will award those who garner the best finish time. The participant with the FASTEST finish time after the 2-day weekend event gets a Sphero BB8 droid!!!
Let your gaming skills out at the Star Wars Game Hub where one can find various video games including the exclusive Star Wars Battlepod. You sit inside a pod that looks like a battleship, choose from different difficulty settings, and you are off flying one of the Star Wars spaceship through asteroids and into the Death Star.

Star Wars at Globe GEN3 Stores
Last November, Globe launched its collection of Star Wars items — Star Wars digital connectors and accessories, including Darth Vader and Storm Trooper car chargers, Star Wars character flash drives, phone cases, and power banks. All these are exclusively available at Star Wars-themed Globe GEN3 Stores.
For pictures of some of the items, check out my previous Globe GEN3 Stores post HERE.
As part of its commitment to providing learning opportunities, Globe has also partnered with The Mind Museum and Teach for the Philippines during the Galactic Celebration weekend. Alongside Teach for the Philippines, volunteers will serve as big brothers and sisters to 100 public school kids who will tour the museum and join the Read-Along activities. The kids will not just have an unforgettable Star Wars experience but they will also increase their appreciation for science and technology.
