RapidPass.ph allows frontliners to breeze through checkpoints
Frontliners, as well as responders and delivery personnel, have been encountering delays and difficulties getting through checkpoints as a result of the Enhanced Community Quarantine or Luzon Lockdown. They will finally get a respite.
By April 6, Monday, a frontliner could apply for a RapidPass so that going through checkpoints would be a breeze.
What is RapidPass.ph?
RapidPass.ph is a virtual identification system developed by DCTX for the COVID-19 Inter Agency Task Force to facilitate fast and simple travel for personnel passing through quarantine checkpoints. RapidPass.ph utilizes a Scan and Go approach by providing unique QR codes for each authorized user.
Who can register for an account?
Individuals and priority vehicles.
Any individual or company/organization considered essential or needed for essential movement according to the guidelines of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (e.g. frontliners, medical workers, basic services, logistics, police, BPO workers, etc.) may apply. Priority vehicles are vehicles owned or used by companies and their employees providing essential goods and services (such as food, medicines, banking, telecommunication, among others).
How does one register for an account?
1. Register at www.RapidPass.ph
2. Follow the steps to apply for a digital pass. These requests will then be sent to the relevant agencies for approval. Approval for passes will be based on the exemptions to the enhanced community quarantine set by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF).
3. Once approved, the unique QR code with be sent through email or SMS to the mobile number used to register.
4. Print the QR code or save it as a digital photo
For vehicles, it is recommended that the QR code is printed and stuck to the windshield for visibility. Individuals bearing the pass should present their QR code to enforcers who will scan it at designated checkpoints. Always have a valid ID for inspection. Separate passes are required for a vehicle, the driver, and its passengers. The passes are non-transferable.
How does RapidPass.ph work?
Major Luzon checkpoints are equipped with smartphones. Each priority vehicle or frontliner passing a checkpoint will have to show the QR code. The person manning checkpoint scans QR code. Once the phone recognizes that the frontliner or vehicle has been approved, . The master list of approved frontliners is downloaded to these checkpoint phones each morning so that each phone has the latest database.
Using technology to make things more convenient and efficient is what RapidPass.ph aims to achieve. I am looking forward to seeing how much easier it will be for frontliners and other critical services to get through checkpoints.
