The “Omni” of all webinars is here. DigiCon OMNI 2020 goes virtual for the first time!
COVID-19 has changed us in so many ways. How we live, how we work, how we consult medical specialists, and now, even how we do business. It has changed digital marketing as well.
Years ago, brands still had to make choices about whether to conduct marketing campaigns online or offline (the traditional way). These days, it is a no-brainer. You have to go digital. You have to be online. It is probably appropriate also that in this time of a pandemic, the Internet & Mobile Marketing Association of the Philippines (IMMAP), presents this year’s DigiCon OMNI, on a virtual platform over the course of 5 days. While the past themes had specific focus, this year’s theme is simply DigiCon Omni (Omni stands for universal, all-encompassing). As IMMAP President, Dennis Paez, says — “the line between online and offline has never been this blurred”.

DigiCon OMNI 2020 brings together acclaimed keynote speakers featuring Seth Godin, Entrepreneur and Founder of Squidoo and Yoyodyne and author of This is Marketing, Angela Duckworth, CEO and Founder of Character Lab and author of GRIT: The Power of Passion and Perseverance, Eric Ries, Entrepreneur and author of The Lean Startup, Rishad Tobaccowala, Senior Adviser at Publicis Groupe and author of Restoring the Soul of Business: Staying Human in the Age of Data, and John Maeda, Chief Experience Officer at Publicis Sapient.
Unlike previous years, DigiCon OMNI 2020 spans 5 days instead of the usual 3 days. That is probably because most sessions begin in the afternoon (owing to the time difference in the home countries of many speakers). However, they have retained the tracks and breakout sessions. This year, there will be 5 tracks:
Mindsets and Skillsets will focus on fostering innovative thinking within organizations, as well as building resilience within teams as we adapt to future ‘new normal’ scenarios.
Technology and Humanity will discuss the importance of bringing back the primacy of insight and understanding of human behavior beyond collecting data points.
Platforms and Processes is where startup founders will share their approach to growth, leadership, custom acquisition, and operations.
Design and Culture will focus on designing better solutions and delightful experiences as shared by problem solvers and culture shapers.
Vision and Change will discuss business reinvention in the new normal through bold visions for the future and rediscovering purpose.
Each of the 5 conference days will focus on one track and for each, there will be simultaneous breakout sessions which delegates can choose from.
That is not the only thing that has now gone virtual. Exhibitors and partners will have virtual booths that one can visit. Even the socials have gone online. One can get to know other participants, with interests similar to yours, through time-capped video chats.
DigiCon OMNI 2020 will also include a Boomerang Showcase in between talks. The Boomerang Showcase will feature video submissions from different agencies exhibiting their examples of digital marketing excellence.
The glamor, excitement, breadth, and depth of topics you find in each DigiCon conference is now on cyberspace. The pandemic has its bright side, apparently. With so many still working from home, the conference tickets are all sold out.
For the delegates, you are in for a lot of concepts, information, insights, and food for thought. For me, I am excited to see what takeaways I will bring with me about digital marketing and how the industry is transforming in the face of this pandemic and preparing for the future new normal. Watch for my post on my takeaways.
