How to get an additional 1GB on Dropbox via Mailbox
Want to get an additional 1GB storage capacity on your Dropbox account? I just received an email giving me a heads-up on this so I’m sharing it with you.

Download Mailbox, install it, log in using your Dropbox login credentials and you instantly get that extra 1GB. Just like that! Just for trying Mailbox.
Mailbox was acquired in early 2013 by Dropbox. Back then, it was developed for the iOS system so I had no access as I was on an Android device. If you have Google’s Inbox app, Mailbox is somewhat similar. In fact, it introduced the concept of snoozing emails ahead of Inbox.
Now, Mailbox works on iOS and Android operating systems. It also has a desktop version on beta. However, I can only get Mailbox on my Android phones, NOT on my tablet. So for those who like email synced on all their devices, that is a bummer. It also aggregates email from Gmail and iCloud only for now. You cannot add Yahoo Mail accounts yet.
How to get your extra 1GB on Dropbox:
1. Download Mailbox from the App Store or Google Play. The desktop beta version (runs on OSX Mavericks minimum) is available HERE.
2. Open Mailbox, log into a Gmail account.
3. If you are already logged onto Dropbox on the phone you’re using, you will automatically be prompted to approve access by Mailbox to Dropbox. If you don’t have Dropbox installed or you are not logged in, you will need to log into Dropbox and authorize the app the traditional way.
Why would I even bother getting an additional 1GB on Dropbox when I have 50GB on Box? Habit, I guess. I started with Dropbox and many of my friends/family are still on it. We use it to share folders. So if you’re like me, this is for you.
I hope to do a comparison soon between Mailbox and Inbox. For now, I’m just happy to get that extra 1GB on Dropbox. Go get yours! And if, after trying Mailbox you decide you don’t want to use it, just uninstall the app and you still get to keep your 1GB on Dropbox.
