Nokia Lumia 925 launches in the Philippines

The successor to the popular, high-end Nokia Lumia 920 is now here – the Nokia Lumia 925.

At a previous Nokia launch of Lumia models, I got to hold the 920 and was quite impressed with some of its advanced features — motion stabilizer, wireless charging, and low light shooting capability.

The Lumia 925 takes all the great features of the 920 and takes it a level up.

My friend Noemi owns a Lumia 920 (which she loves) and I had the chance to do a quick check of both phones.

One difference is that the Lumia 925 is lighter and thinner than the 920. It’s only 8.55mm thin and weighs a mere 139 grams. That’s because the Nokia’s signature polycarbonate body is now encased in aluminium, allowing it to be lighter and more sleek looking.

Here are some features of the Nokia Lumia 925 that I like.

Low Light Capability. I love my smartphone but every time I need to take a photo in low light, I spend more time fiddling with the exposure settings. I also noticed that even with the exposure level at max, I still get grainy and shaky pictures many times as a result of the shutter being left open longer to allow more light in. Amazingly, the Lumia 925 took pictures in low light very well. Check photos of us taken by the Lumia 925 (I used my smartphone to take a picture of what the Lumia 925 took. No editing involved!)

Optical Image Stabilization. I already saw this in the Lumia 920 at one event. I rode a stationary bike while taking a video with the HD+ technology and the video was steady!

PureView Camera. The 8.7MP camera, which sports Zeiss optics, now has 6 physical lenses for higher level precision, sharper and more vivid images even in low light conditions, and captures up to 10 images at once with Nokia Smart Camera so that you can edit photos with options like Cinemagraph, Action Shot and Change Faces.

Just like the Lumia 920, the Lumia 925 has cool features like being able to edit out photo bombers, Here Maps and Livesight for augmented reality navigation, and wireless charging (needs a snap-on cover which can be paired with a wireless charging stand or plate).

The Nokia Lumia 925 will retail at PhP 23,500 at Nokia Stores and Nokia Solutions Partners. It will also be available exclusively to Smart subscribers. It will come FREE with a fully customizable Smart All-In Plan 1800 with a 30-month lock-in period.

Colors available for Nokia Lumia 925 will be white, grey and black. It will be out starting Aug. 19, 2013.
